Welcome to Learn My Name! This tool was created by Pingry STC students to help teachers and staff honor student’s identities through the simple but meaningful practice of pronouncing names correctly. A person’s name is often deeply tied to their culture, family, and sense of self, and pronouncing it accurately is a powerful way to show respect and foster belonging.
With Learn My Name, teachers can easily listen to the correct pronunciations of their students’ names within their classes or search our extensive database for any name.
When you are ready to get started, navigate to your account page. There, you can enter a phonetic spelling of your name, enter your prefered pronouns, and record the pronunciation of your name!
Feel free to record your name as many times as needed until you like how it sounds, then just press save. Additionally, the app allows you to create an email signature with a link to your name's pronunciation, extending this practice of respect across all your communications.
